For Christians who formerly practiced Islam and freely desire to affirm Christian faith.
This prayer renounces the individual's former beliefs and religious commitments. It is not a prayer against Muslims, who we are believing will all have the opportunity to know the fullness of the real God.
Scripture: John 1:1–14; John 14:6; Romans 3:21–26; Romans 10:9–13; Colossians 2:9
Prayer
Father God, I come to You freely in the name of Jesus Christ.
I declare that Jesus Christ is Lord.
I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, that He came in the flesh, died for our sins, rose bodily from the dead, and is Lord and Savior.
I place my trust for salvation in the grace of God through Jesus Christ rather than in my own religious performance.
Where I previously practiced Islam, I now freely release and renounce every religious confession, vow, dedication, obligation, or spiritual allegiance that contradicts my faith in Jesus Christ.
I renounce my former confession of faith where it denied the divine Sonship and Lordship of Jesus.
I renounce every belief I personally held that denied the crucifixion, resurrection, saving work, or deity of Christ.
I renounce dependence upon religious works as the basis of my acceptance before God.
I release any religious vows or commitments I made that prevent me from following Jesus wholeheartedly.
I forgive Muslim family members, leaders, teachers, or communities for any pressure, rejection, fear, or mistreatment I may have experienced.
I also repent for any hatred, contempt, prejudice, or bitterness I have developed toward Muslims or other faiths because of my own experiences.
Jesus, teach me to love people while remaining faithful to my convictions.
I repent for partnering with the spirits of fear, hatred, murder, deception, religion, and coercion.
I choose Jesus freely.
Father, establish me deeply in the Scriptures.
Give me Christian community that understands the cost of conversion. Heal grief connected to family rejection or loss of community. Give me wisdom, courage, compassion, and peace.
I declare that my identity is now rooted in Jesus Christ. I belong to Him. Amen.
