Renouncing Religion, Performance & Self-Righteousness

Scripture: Luke 18:9–14; Romans 3:20–24; Galatians 5:1; Ephesians 2:8–10

Prayer

Father, forgive me for every way I have substituted religious performance for a relationship with You.

I renounce the belief that I can earn Your love.

I renounce the belief that spiritual activity makes me superior to others.

I renounce self-righteousness.

I renounce legalism.

I renounce condemnation.

I renounce spiritual comparison.

I renounce perfectionism.

I renounce outward performance without inward surrender.

I repent for judging others by standards You never gave me.

I repent for measuring spirituality by appearance, denomination, vocabulary, clothing, church culture, manifestations, gifts, knowledge, or religious activity.

I repent for obeying rules or even religious rules like the Pharisees did, instead of seeking you and asking for your opinions on a matter.

I renounce fear-based Christianity.

I renounce serving You because I was terrified You would reject me if I fail.

I renounce striving for an identity You have already offered me through your saving grace.

Jesus, deliver me from knowing about You without knowing You. Help me to know you more, Lord. Give me a tender heart. Teach me obedience that flows from love. Teach me holiness without pride. Conviction without condemnation. Truth without cruelty. Discipline without striving.

I receive salvation as Your gift.

I receive grace.

I receive the Holy Spirit.

I choose relationship with Jesus over religious performance, and I break every ungodly soul tie with anyone who carries this spirit and I ask you to show me your ways.

Rewire my mind to be programmed with the mind of Christ. I love you and I resubmit my heart and my will to you, Jesus. Amen.
