Renouncing Python, Leviathan & Pride

Scripture: Acts 16:16–18; Job 41; Isaiah 27:1; James 4:6–10; 1 Peter 5:5–9

Acts explicitly describes a spirit of divination using terminology associated with python. Leviathan appears in Job and Isaiah.

Import note: we are dealing with the Spirit of Leviathan, not the Principality. From personal experience this is a very different distinction. Many Christians can get bullish and go after principalities over regions, but this prayer is specifically dealing with the spirit, not the principality. Please always be led by the Holy Spirit in your prayers! Remember, it's all about obedience! James 1:5 says"If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you."

Prayer

Father God, I humble myself before You.

I renounce every involvement with divination, false prophecy, psychic revelation, occult knowledge, fortune telling, spiritual counterfeits, and every attempt to obtain supernatural information outside of the Holy Spirit.

I renounce every constricting pattern that has attempted to choke prayer, worship, me reading or studying the Word of God/my Bible, truth, joy, spiritual courage, or obedience in my life.

I renounce pride.

I renounce arrogance.

I renounce self-exaltation.

I renounce stubbornness.

I renounce defensiveness.

I renounce intellectual pride.

I renounce spiritual pride.

I renounce the need to win every argument.

I renounce twisting words to protect myself.

I renounce accusation, mockery, contempt, and refusing correction.

I renounce every pattern of the spirit of Python or the spirit of Leviathan including divination, spiritual constriction, deception, pride, twisting, confusion, division, and resistance to truth.

Father, expose every place pride hides behind insecurity. Every place arrogance hides behind knowledge. Every place stubbornness hides behind conviction. Every place control hides behind discernment. Every place criticism hides behind righteousness.

I ask you to forgive me. Give me a humble and teachable heart.

Holy Spirit, teach me to love truth more than being right.

Restore freedom in prayer.

Restore clarity in communication.

Restore tenderness in my heart.

Jesus Christ alone receives glory.

I humble myself under the mighty hand of God. In Jesus' name. Amen.
